Why work with WiFiXpert
Most comparison sites stop at headline broadband speed. We start where the customer actually experiences the service: the Wi-Fi inside the home — coverage, reliability, the router, the mesh, the smart devices and the support they get when something goes wrong.
We're building structured, sourced data across:
- Broadband providers
- ISP-supplied routers
- Mesh systems and access points
- Smart-home ecosystems
- IoT and connected-home devices
- Home construction and Wi-Fi performance
- Wi-Fi support quality and guarantees
- Managed Wi-Fi capability
We're an early-stage, growing platform and we don't publish audience claims we can't evidence. What we can offer is depth, transparency and a published methodology.
The WiFiXpert Index
The WiFiXpert Index is our scoring framework for broadband providers, routers and mesh systems, and smart-home device compatibility. It's built on evidence, not opinion.
- Rankings use a published methodology
- Scores are independent of affiliate relationships
- Sponsored placement never changes a technical score
- The methodology is versioned and reviewed
- Source evidence is retained and dated
Product & service testing
Vendors and providers can submit for review:
- Routers
- Mesh systems
- Wi-Fi access points
- Smart-home devices
- IoT devices
- Broadband services
- Managed Wi-Fi services
Depending on the product, a review may look at:
- Wi-Fi performance
- Coverage in a real home
- Reliability over time
- Smart-home compatibility
- Setup experience
- Mesh compatibility
- IoT friendliness
- Support quality
- Managed Wi-Fi capability
Correct or update product information
If something on WiFiXpert is out of date or wrong, tell us. Every comparison and compatibility page carries a correction link, and every correction is moderated against a source before it's published. We record the change requested, the company, the submitter, the evidence, the date and the outcome.
Founding technology partners
We're inviting a small number of broadband, networking and smart-home companies to support the development of an independent compatibility and troubleshooting platform for UK households.
Collaboration might include:
- Product samples
- Evaluation units
- Technical documentation
- Engineering input
- API or data feeds
- Interoperability testing
- Firmware update information
- Product launch briefings
Taking part does not guarantee a positive review, a badge, or a higher WiFiXpert score. Editorial conclusions stay with us.
For broadband providers
We assess how well a provider actually supports Wi-Fi inside the home — apps, visibility, diagnostics, engineers and remedies — not just the speed on the box.
Smart-home compatibility programme
Smart-home and IoT manufacturers can submit devices for compatibility assessment against real UK home networks — ISP routers, mesh systems, band behaviour, security modes, guest networks and roaming.
WiFiXpert Verified (in development)
We're designing a verification programme. Badges under consideration are WiFiXpert Tested, WiFiXpert Compatibility Verified, WiFiXpert Recommended, Best for Smart Homes and Best Managed Wi-Fi.
No badge is awarded automatically. Badges will only ever be issued under an approved, published methodology. Commercial relationships do not determine WiFiXpert ratings or awards.
