What does your Wi-Fi guarantee actually promise?

Most UK providers now advertise "Wi-Fi in every room". They rarely say how fast, where it stops, what you have to do first, or what happens when it still doesn't work. This page puts the published detail side by side, and separates a coverage promise from a Wi-Fi service that is genuinely managed for you.

Nothing here changes a provider's WiFiXpert Index score. A published room promise is not a measure of how good the support is, so it is kept as its own separate measure. Terms checked 9 September 2026.

The short version

  • A guarantee pays you if a threshold is missed. Managed Wi-Fi is meant to find and fix the cause.
  • Guaranteed speeds run from 3 Mbps to 100 Mbps. That is the difference between "one video" and "a full house".
  • Almost every guarantee excludes broadband faults, gardens and outbuildings, and your own routers.
  • The usual final answer is a one-off payment, often £100. That is compensation, not a repair.
