Google Nest Doorbell + Ubiquiti UniFi
Works, with a couple of settings to get right

A Google Nest Doorbell does work on a Ubiquiti UniFi, but a couple of the router's default settings cause most of the complaints we see. Fix those first and it settles down.
Known issues with this pair
- • Do not put Google Nest Doorbell on Ubiquiti UniFi's guest or IoT network — devices there are kept apart on purpose.
What it looks like when it goes wrong
- Set-up finishes, then the app immediately loses the gadget.
Do these, in this order

Put the gadget on the main Wi-Fi name and forget the guest network on your phone.

Check the signal reading in the Google Home app at the door itself.

Move the router out of the hall cupboard and up off the floor.
Settings we'd recommend on the Ubiquiti UniFi
- • Switch on the multicast/mDNS forwarding option so speakers and cameras can be found.
- • Keep the gadget and your phone on the same network, and turn off client isolation on that network.
Good to know about this router: Very powerful, but its default settings block the background chatter that a lot of smart-home kit needs. Separate networks (VLANs) are easy to create here and are the most common cause of 'my app can't find it'.
If none of that works
- If the gadget only ever sits in one spot, a wired connection is always the most reliable answer.
