Which Wi-Fi app actually lets you do what you need?
Your broadband company or your Wi-Fi maker gives you an app. They are not the same. Pick two to four and see exactly what each one lets you do โ and what costs extra.
We only tick something we can point to a source for. Where we can't, we say "Unable to verify" instead of guessing.

How we work these numbers out
We keep three different things apart: what the technology can do, what the app in front of you actually exposes, and what you are entitled to on your package. Each feature is recorded as Included, Supported, Premium, Additional subscription, Depends on your provider, Depends on your package, Depends on your model, Not supported, or Unable to verify.
Anything we cannot verify is left out of the maths โ never counted as a zero โ and where an area is thinly documented we say "Not enough published detail" instead of showing a score. That is why we also show how well each area is documented.
Seven categories make up the rating, weighted: Ease of use 20, Network and device control 20, Wi-Fi capability 15, Diagnostics and self-service 15, Family controls 10, Security 10, Included value 10. This is a Wi-Fi comparison, so the Wi-Fi jobs carry the most. Family controls and online safety still count, and we name the best app for each, but they cannot on their own make something the best Wi-Fi app. Ease of use has its own method โ setup steps, how deep the menus go, the plainness of the wording, and whether troubleshooting gives you a useful next step. It is never based on how many settings an app has.
Wi-Fi capability is the newest Wi-Fi the app is documented to set up and manage โ Wi-Fi 7 counts for more than Wi-Fi 6 โ tempered by how much of the maker's or provider's range the app actually covers, so an app limited to one older box cannot score as though it ran a whole Wi-Fi 7 range.
Cost is stated as a category with a reason, not a percentage, because a percentage of a partly documented app is meaningless. Bills and payments are reported, never rated: an app that does not handle your bill is neither marked down nor given credit for it. Checked 12 September 2026.
