Sonos Era 100 — smart-home gadget keeps going offline
Why does my Sonos Era 100 smart device keeps going offline?
The short answer
One speaker vanishes from the app in the evening, then comes back on its own. On the WiFiXpert Compatibility Index the Sonos Era 100 scores 83/100, and its weakest check is "Works on a guest network" — which is exactly where this problem comes from. Sonos does not support guest networks — the speakers cannot be grouped.
We publish what breaks with each router and mesh system, and the setting that fixes it.

Free fixes, in order
- Put every Sonos speaker and your phone on one Wi-Fi name — main network, never guest.
- Turn off 'client isolation' or 'AP isolation' on the router.
- Unplug any plug-in extender and retest.
- Wire one speaker to the router; the rest of the system usually steadies with it.
Before you spend anything
- Only after the network-name and isolation checks. A cable to one speaker is cheaper than any new kit.
