Sonos Arc — smart-home gadget keeps going offline
Why does my Sonos Arc smart device keeps going offline?
The short answer
Speakers disappear from the app, especially after a new router or mesh system arrives. On the WiFiXpert Compatibility Index the Sonos Arc scores 82/100, and its weakest check is "Works on a guest network" — which is exactly where this problem comes from. Guest networks stop devices talking to each other, and your phone then can't see the speaker at all.
We publish what breaks with each router and mesh system, and the setting that fixes it.

Free fixes, in order
- Put your phone on the same Wi-Fi name as the speakers — not the guest network, and not a separate 5 GHz name.
- Give your main Wi-Fi one name for both bands rather than two separate names.
- Turn off any 'client isolation' or 'AP isolation' setting on your router.
- If you have a plug-in extender, unplug it and see whether the speakers come back.
Before you spend anything
- Only if the room genuinely has no signal. A wired connection to one Sonos speaker fixes far more homes than new kit does.
